Bug ID: 499056
Summary: Non symbolic battery status Oxygen icons for charge
percentages that are odd multiples of 10
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version: 6.2.5
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: minor
Priority: NOR
Component: Panel
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
Oxygen provides battery status symbolic icons for charges like 40%, 60% and
80%, so those icons are correctly shown when the level is closer to those
numbers. However, when the level is closer to odd multiples of 10, like 50%,
70% or 90%, Oxygen shows a completely different non-symbolic icon (the one
named "battery", in the devices folder), which provides no visual indication of
charge level.
I see three problems here:
1) Oxygen is missing some battery icons. I reported that in Bug 498898, and the
author will provide them in a further release.
2) Even if the icons are missing, the fallback should be to their Breeze
counterparts, not to a non-symbolic Oxygen icon that is somewhat related.
3) Strangely, symlinking does not work. That is, doing "ln -s
battery-charging-080.png battery-charging-090.png" does not change the
behavior, and the non-symbolic icon is still shown when the battery charge is
closer to 90%. That means that, even if the author provides the missing icons,
they still won't be shown.
