I use this everyday, and I also approve that this needs to be implemented!
LinuxMint's warpinator can do that already, perhaps worths a look at its code
and somehow "KDEify" it?
The compress workaround is just a big nono, and the current workaround that is
only viable for me is Staring(rate) or creating symlinks to selected files
(there are times when I'm transferring over 1000s) and then push it to
KDEconnect. That way, I don't have to compress, nor move the original files out
from their base directories, but honestly, transferring directories (including
multiple of directories ofcourse) would be alot easier
