Can you or your sister still reproduce the original issue in Plasma 6.3.5 or later, and also presumably with a newer version of NetworkManager? It's possible it gets auto-detected correctly now. Unfortunately I don't have hardware suitable for testing this myself, hence asking if you or your sister still can.
