--- Comment #3 from [email protected] --- Opening the file was done by middle-clicking on it (Kate is the second app associated to that filetype). Subsequent attempts to open Kate was done by the start menu and the Terminal. Unfortunately, I tried restoring the backed-up files, and the crash didn't happen again.
