Unfortunately Ubuntu packages are usually not very recent. If you use the LTS
version they can be up to 3 years behind. If you don't, they can be 6 months to
1 year behind. It's just not helpful to receive a torrent of bug reports about
issues that are mostly already fixed.

If you have persistent bugs that keep happening over the years and are very
likely not fixed in the latest version, and you're a technically competent
person, you're welcome to lie to the bug reporter and enter a newer version,
then change it back to an older one. That should keep the bug janitor from
auto-closing the report.
