Bug ID: 509415
Summary: External HDMI montor fails to wake after automatic
sleep mode
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.4.4
Reported In:
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Screen locking
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
SUMMARY
I use my laptop connected to an external monitor, with the built-in screen
disabled. After the system is idle for a while, the laptop goes into sleep mode
and the external monitor turns off as expected. When trying to resume, the
monitor does not turn on, like it was before. Instead, the laptop's screen
turns on, showing a blank screen, sometimes with a cursor. The only workaround
is to manually restart the external monitor.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect an external monitor to a laptop, disable the built-in one
2. Wait for the laptop to go into sleep
3. Attempt to resume from sleep.
OBSERVED RESULT
The external monitor does not turn on. The laptop’s built-in display activates
but shows only a blank screen (sometimes with a cursor).
EXPECTED RESULT
The external monitor should turn on and display the lock screen.
