            Bug ID: 510223
Summary: KDE Connect Android fails to ping devices via IPv6
                    link-local addresses.
    Classification: Applications
           Product: kdeconnect
      Version First 25.08.1
       Reported In:
          Platform: Android
                OS: Android 14.x
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: android-application
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When using KDE Connect android client to add a device by its IPv6 link-local
address, the app displays “Unable to ping device”. But the same IPv6 address
can be successfully pinged from the same Android phone using other applications
and the devices are actually reachable and can communicate successfully over
IPv6.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect two devices (e.g. an Android phone and a PC) to the same Wi-Fi
network.
2. On the Android device, open KDE Connect → Setting Menu → Add device by IP.
3. Enter the target device’s IPv6 link-local address (for example,
fe80::1234:1122:3322:1111)
4. Observe the connection status.

OBSERVED RESULT
1. KDE Connect shows “Unable to ping device”.
2. Two devices are actually connected successfully.

EXPECTED RESULT
KDE Connect should recognize that the device is reachable and not report a ping
failure when IPv6 communication is functioning correctly.
