Follow up: 1) Logged in 2) disabled the 2nd screen with kscreen-doctor over ssh 3) Changed the setting to prefer performance in kscreen 4) Started the recording 5) ran WAYLAND_DISPLAY=wayland-0 kscreen-doctor output.DP2-enable over ssh > applying config failed!
