Current situation
SUMMARY
When sharing from Plasma Integration in web browser, we see awkward "esemes"
transliteration, which hurts eyes, instead of well-recognizable "SMS" or
"wiadomość tekstowa".
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install "Plasma Integration" for Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/plasma-integration/
2. Right-click on a page
3. Click "Udostępnij..."
OBSERVED RESULT
We see "Prześlij esemesa przez KDE Connect..."
EXPECTED RESULT
To see "Prześlij SMS-em przez KDE Connect..."
(SMS-em because SMS is the carrier medium for what we're sending, not SMS-a
because we're not forwarding an existing SMS message onwards – just like it's
"Prześlij (czym?) pocztą" and not "Prześlij (co?) pocztę")
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The transliteration of "SMS" acronym is very unnecessary and awkward, it makes
it hard to immediately understand what the string is conveying, unlike the
simple and well-known "SMS" acronym that's easy to immediately recognize.
"Esemes" reads more like "esesman", and I've never seen anyone say this instead
of SMS in my life...
If the goal was some kind of "Polish purity" here, then please just use
"wiadomość tekstowa" instead, as that's what it is and that's a very common
translation. But I would propose faithfully sticking to SMS, since it:
- leaves no doubt about what kind of text message is to be sent
- won't be as verbose: looking at the screenshot we see that the text is
already sticking out as very long, so making it even longer is not great
If you want to use "wiadomość tekstowa" or avoid adding a suffix to "SMS", then
the options are:
- "Prześlij jako wiadomość tekstową przez KDE Connect..."
- "Prześlij wiadomością tekstową przez KDE Connect..."
- "Prześlij jako SMS przez KDE Connect..."
Whether you choose any of these three, or what I proposed in "EXPECTED RESULT",
it will be infinitely better than "esemesa". Or if you used the word "Wyślij",
it could be simply "Wyślij SMS przez KDE Connect...", which would be the
simplest and most faithful to the original, but would require changing the
other neighboring "Prześlij" to be "Wyślij" accordingly.
ALSO "Send to Device..." is currently untranslated. I guess that'd be "Prześlij
na urządzenie..." then.
