But to be fair, it is not an issue with the change, but kernel bug being exposed. Basically what is happening is, when going to suspend, there is some interrupt fired by some driver in system, and instead of it going to oblivion, system is cancelling that suspend, and since your system supports both s3 (deep) and s2 (s2idle) option, it is falling back to s2idle option.
