--- Comment #35 from Vincent Foulon <[email protected]> ---
I have a similar issue on Kubuntu with Discover 6.3.4 (I hesitated to create a
new issue in the first place, tell me if I should do that instead)

Operating System: Kubuntu 25.04
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.12.0
Qt Version: 6.8.3
Kernel Version: 6.14.0-35-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland

Some people reported the same issue on various forums. From what I collected,
the issue I'm having is caused by the snap backend. In the command line, the
order of the backends do matter as shown in this post (which I can replicate on
my machine): https://discuss.kde.org/t/plasma-discover-not-launching/12503/39

> I turned on the pattern recognition part of my brain, played around a bit,

> this is the default on my machine.
> plasma-discover --backends kns,packagekit,snap # Hangs
> plasma-discover --backends packagekit,snap # Hangs
> plasma-discover --backends snap,packagekit # Works
> plasma-discover --backends packagekit,kns,snap # Works
> plasma-discover --backends snap,fwupd,packagekit

On another forum, a user suggested to remove the snap backend entirely to fix
the issue, which I'm not happy with:
https://www.kubuntuforums.net/forum/currently-supported-releases/kubuntu-24-04-nitpick-noble-lts/software-support-bg/679024-plasma-discover-not-starting

> sudo apt purge plasma-discover-backend-snap
