Concerning the raised issue:
@Johnny: The generic rule is to put an unbreakable space before certain
characters and a space after. This applies at least to ':', '?' and '';'

This point is documented in :

   * Les ponctuations fortes (dites aussi doubles) sont : ; ? ! qui nécessitent
: un espace insécable avant et un espace après ;

Currently, all strings are subject to this rule and I check translations
accordingly. 
May be, this point should be reviewed and the tool updated accordingly.

Waiting for further guidance or tool modifications.
