To be honest, I don't think there's a way to recreate the old UI entirely from the development side. We can consider (re)adding a toolbar, like other KDE apps have, which might be able to be customized. I'll let the developers weigh in on this. I'm not sure what widget you're referring to, i don't see a widget by that name in the add/remove ui and I don't see anything like that in my panel.
