SUMMARY
When copying a single image from gwenview (with multiple images there is no
problem), plasma6 desktop hangs for 15-20 seconds on a brand new Lenovo Ideapad

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a bigger image (several MB, +10MP)
2. Ctr+C the image (only a single one)
3. Try to click on the panel (or if the clipboard is empty and it was set up to
show only when relevant, how many seconds take up until it appears)
OBSERVED RESULT
The panel hangs until the clipboard is shown (or if it is shown until the
record appears in clipboard manager)
EXPECTED RESULT
Copy/paste to work instantly

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The hanging is caused I think by the plasma6 clipboard manager. I observed it
with gwenview only, when the clipboard is set up to copy only text. Copying one
single image from dolphin or from nomacs for example is working correctly. If I
disable clipboard manager completely, there is no hanging. Also there is no
observable hanging for smaller images, screenshots etc.
Strange is also that in this case it does not copy any image from libreoffice,
gimp, inkscape, but from dolphin, gwenview, nomacs, it generates thumbnails, no
matter what option is chosen.
If I chose that clipboard manager to copy images too, then from libreoffice
hangs too, but at the end of the hanging it is just an unusable empty line
appearing in clipboard manager.
The problem for me was present on earlier plasmas too, but I managed to use
clipit instead for textonly on X11. But now I had to move to wayland on which
clipit does not work and didn't find anything usable in any form to replace
plasma's clipboard manager. So have to have a working plasma clipboard manager
:)
