I can reproduce, with one extra step: The colour scheme updates if the filter bar is empty and there are no filter categories active (the breadcrumbs above the filter). If there's some text entered in the filter, or some category is selected (as is Album in your screenshot), then the colour scheme doesn't update automatically.
