How the message is constrained into a smaller space than it needs.
SUMMARY
The message error for "Virtual Display" doesn't fit (is not shown too well)
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use a mobile phone with Lineage OS 23.0 (Android 16).
2. Install F-droid on it and from F-droid, the KDE Connect app.
3. Click on "Show hidden icons" in Plasma's system tray
4. Setup Plasma's KDE Connect to connect to the app on the mobile phone.
5. Click on KDE Connect icon in system tray.
6. Click on the "Virtual Display" button at the top.
OBSERVED RESULT
An error message appears that says:
"Virtual Monitor is not available
Remote device does not have a VNC client (eg. krdc) installed.
The krfb package is required on the local device."
EXPECTED RESULT
1.
First, I expected the error message to be easily readable, fully.
Without having to try to pinpoint that extremely small scroll bar to drag it up
or down.
Second, I expected, that at least a grab / resize bottom-right corner is
provided like on Windows and on the web to quickly grab and drag down to make
that content section taller that the whole message fits.
Third, I expected that making the whole window taller by resizing it from the
top margin would display the whole message immediately.
2.
First, I expected that KDE Connect app, that I installed from F-droid does all
that is needed on the phone and send back to the computer the requested things,
without anything else needing to be installed.
Second, I expected that in cases of errors, the errors are fixable by me.
There is no 'krfb' app on F-droid and that's the only app store that I have
installed on the phone and the only one that I want to have installed as this
is a clean OS, without any of the proprietary apps of Google.
I could install Aurora, that lets me download apps from Google's Play store,
but I don't want to do that, especially for this kind of feature. (For which
tehere is another way, if you read below in the ADDITIONAL INFORMATION section)
The KDE Connect app from F-droid should have everything required as built-in!
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.18.0
Qt Version: 6.9.2
KDE Connect (on the phone): 1.34.3
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have previously set in "Display Configuration" the "Scale" to 120%, for
easier reading.
I also have USB debugging turned on on the phone and scrcpy installed (with my
own custom wrapper around it) and it works just great for mirroring the phone's
screen or camera, so it's definitely possible to grab the phone's screen
without additional software, but of course this needs the USB debugging to be
turned on, which might have some disadvantages.
