SUMMARY
There were suddenly no menu bar in Steam. Googling let me know that unchecking
Background Services/Application Menus daemon would work, so I did that.
Restarting system then gave me the menus back (restarting Steam didn't). I'm
here because of a link in Background Services told me to.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Everything is fine each restart for a couple of days after eos-update
2. Suddenly one morning no menu bar after startup
3. unchecking "Background Services/Application Menus daemon" and restarting
system worked
