            Bug ID: 514621
Summary: Consider RAW as Original version of JPEG
    Classification: Applications
           Product: digikam
      Version First unspecified

  Target Milestone: ---

Hi,

I usually shoot in RAW + JPEG and end-up grouping my files by name. Which was
great until I started editing my JPEG (batch operation on lots of picture that
are not worth spending time on the RAW) and activate the versioning feature, (
which is great also).

But now I end-up either having 2 photo displayed ( RAW + JPEG grouped + latest
version of the JPEG edit) which is not the easiest to manage. Or only the
latest version of the JPEG edit (when hiding original) but I loose any easy
access to the RAW ( need to go in the settings...).

It would be nice to have an option to have the RAW recognized (automatically or
by hand) as the initial version of the JPEG that come from the camera and so
have only one version of the picture shown and have access to all the steps
including RAW in the version panel.

like IMG0001.RAW -> IMG0001.JPEG -> IMG0001_v1.JPEG ......

Which is somehow what happen in reality ( Sensors -> RAW -> JPEG ( made by
camera) ...)

(This also bring the question on what to do when editing metadata does it
applies on all version or latest + RAW or only latest. I have no clear answer
on that point)

Thanks
