Can you please disable alarms and then quit KAlarm (menu File -> Quit, ensuring that there are no open alarm message windows to allow it to actually quit). After that, restart KAlarm (use Alt-F2 and type "kalarm" in KRunner), and check whether the alarms are still disabled.
