SUMMARY
KDE Discover automatic system updates require manual confirmation despite
"Automatically" and "After restarting" settings, contradicting UI description.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open KDE System Settings and navigate to "Software Update".
2. Set "Update applications:" to "Automatically".
3. Set "Apply system updates:" to "After restarting".
4. Observe the tooltip/description for "Automatically", which states: "As
atualizações de aplicativos serão baixadas automaticamente quando ficarem
disponíveis. As atualizações para aplicativos serão instaladas imediatamente
enquanto que atualizações do sistema serão instaladas na próxima vez que o
computador for reiniciado." (English translation: "Application updates will be
downloaded automatically when available. Application updates will be installed
immediately while system updates will be installed the next time the computer
is restarted.")
5. Wait for new system updates to become available.
6. A notification appears (e.g., in Discover or the system tray).
7. Open Discover and navigate to the "Updates" section.
OBSERVED RESULT
Despite the "Automatically" and "After restarting" settings, and the UI
description implying full automation for system updates upon reboot, the user
is still required to:
* Open Discover.
* Manually click the "Update All" button to initiate the staging process for
the updates.
* Only *after* this manual click, a notification might appear stating
"Applying autonomous updates...", which is contradictory to the manual step
taken.
This behavior is evidenced by the following screenshots (to be attached to this
bug report):
* `Captura de imagem_20260125_102123.png`: Shows System Settings configured
for "Automatically" and "After restarting". The tooltip description is visible,
stating system updates will be installed "the next time the computer is
restarted."
* `Captura de imagem_20260125_102223.png`: Shows Discover with system updates
pending, requiring a manual click on "Atualizar tudo".
* `Captura de imagem_20260128_085749.png`: Another instance showing Discover
with system updates pending, requiring a manual click on "Atualizar tudo".
* `Captura de imagem_20260128_102629.png`: Shows a system tray notification
"Aplicando atualizações autônomas..." *after* the user had to manually click
"Atualizar tudo", highlighting the contradiction.
EXPECTED RESULT
When "Update applications: Automatically" and "Apply system updates: After
restarting" are configured, the system should:
* Automatically download all updates.
* Automatically stage system updates for installation upon the next reboot,
without requiring any further manual interaction or confirmation (like clicking
"Update All" in Discover).
* Any notification should accurately reflect the *fully autonomous* process,
if one is truly achieved.
