Windows 11 still uses the registry. Windows has the concept of 'File
Association.' The file extension of a file indicates the program needed to open
it. Files ending in .TXT are text and should be opened by a text editor. DOCX
files are for Microsoft Word, .XLSX files for Excel, and so on. If there is
more than one eligible program (ex. Notepad, Notepad++ for text files), you
have to tell Windows which program to use by default.

Windows installers typically set up file associations. The KDenLive installer
should set a default file association for KDenLive for files ending in
.kdenlive. Thus when the user clicks on a file ending in .kdenlive the program
should just open and load it.
