--- Comment #14 from [email protected] --- (In reply to David Edmundson from comment #13) > Rather than putting this into spectacle itself, it would be more useful to > make a generic "view any image/mimetype" in a PIP window. > > From a spectacle POV this then becomes just another "Open With..." That is something I have attempted without much success - to do it well requires more skill than I have and a viewer I haven't found. The two barriers for me to this being as good as 'real' pinning like Flameshot: 1. Placement and geometry. In Flameshot pinning (I have a single "p" hotkey) leaves the pin exactly in place, and I can move it slightly up/down. In my experiments with lightweight viewers like imv/feh/display, Spectacle doesn't pass any info that would tell them where to place the PIP window. So instead of being perfectly in position for comparisons, the PIP window is in the wrong position or even wrong monitor, which gives a jarring context shift. 2. Speed. Even lightweight viewers seem to have a noticeable delay, whereas building it into the screenshot tool means it can be rendered effectively instantly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
