Bug ID: 516175
Summary: Scrolling in kde and gnome apps feels sluggish
compared to other apps or to GNOME
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.6.0
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general

Target Milestone: 1.0
SUMMARY
This is something that I've always noticed, basically scrolling in KDE
applications and scrolling in GNOME applications feels laggy, it feels like
60hz while my monitor is 144hz, meanwhile other applications like browsers are
scrolling smoothly 144hz (although Falkon is affected by this issue and
scrolling is super choppy).
The other thing is that scrolling gnome apps (and probably kde apps too) on
GNOME feels super smooth 144hz, it feels like KDE doesn't have smooth
scrolling.
The other weird thing is that scrolling with the mouse wheel in KDE and GNOME
apps on KDE feels like 60hz, meanwhile if I scroll holding the scrollbar then
it feels 144hz, but on GNOME I don't have this issue and scrolling with the
mouse wheel feels 144hz.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Scroll with the mouse wheel in KDE apps (like discover) and GNOME apps (like
bazaar) VS scroll with the mouse wheel on Firefox or Chromium browsers and
notice the difference
OBSERVED RESULT
Scrolling KDE and GNOME applications with the mouse wheel feels like 60hz on
high refresh monitors.
EXPECTED RESULT
Scrolling should feel as smooth as in browsers and in GNOME.
