I'm wondering if the "if possable write metadata to Raw files" is needed (does digikam or exiftool consider jxl raw files)? This is a real pain. You should default to using exiftool for jxls until you get your Exiv2 working. I've spent many hours rescanning, rewriting, rebuilding...etc...
