Bug ID: 516660
Summary: Icons-Only Task Manager no longer show applications
that draw attention
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.6.0
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Task Manager and Icons-Only Task Manager widgets
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
SUMMARY
Previously, the Icon-Only Task Manager would appear (if set to auto-hide) and
highlight an application that requested attention with an orange glow until
that application was focused on. After upgrading to 6.6.0, applications that
used to cause this (ex. signal-desktop, teams-for-linux) no longer do.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open an application that draws attention (ex. signal-desktop,
teams-for-linux).
2. Receive a notification/attention drawing request.
OBSERVED RESULT
No attention glow over application icon and taskbar does not appear when set to
auto-hide or dodge windows.
EXPECTED RESULT
Icon is highlighted and visible until the application window is accessed.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.23.0
Qt Version: 6.10.2
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- This issue was tested with all visibility options (auto-hide, dodge, visible,
under windows) and the issue persisted through all options.
- Notifications still appear for the tested applications.
- Do not disturb mode was disabled while testing.
- Issue occurs for applications that are in the current activity as well as
other activities. teams-for-linux taskbar notifications used to appear in
whatever activity was active regardless of which activity it was set to
(expected behaviour).
- Window Behaviour focus was set to Click to focus and Focus stealing
prevention was set to None.
- Both of the tested applications (signal-desktop and teams-for-linux) started
experiencing this issue at the same time.
