            Bug ID: 516783
Summary: Minimizing a window via kdotool defers the animation
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First 6.5.5
       Reported In:
          Platform: NixOS
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: minor
          Priority: NOR
         Component: effects-window-management
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

When a window is on another virtual desktop or activity and is not visible at
the moment, and it is minimized via kdotool, the animation is deferred until
the desktop/activity is visible.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a window on an activity
2. Switch to another activity
3. kdotool search --name <app> windowminimize %@
4. Switch back to the activity

OBSERVED RESULT

The window minimize animation plays

EXPECTED RESULT

No animation plays on the activity/desktop switch, as the animation should be
timed with the minimize, not with the activity/desktop becoming visibile

setting and not desirable.
