            Bug ID: 516872
Summary: Extreme disk write usage (90+ GB in 30 minutes) on ZFS
    Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
           Product: frameworks-baloo
      Version First 6.23.0
       Reported In:
          Platform: Ubuntu
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: critical
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Baloo File Daemon
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
It all started when I added a widget that monitors CPU core load. One day, I
noticed the baloo_file process running frequently, always fully utilizing one
CPU thread. I asked DeepSeek what kind of application it was. He explained that
it indexes files on my SSD for quick searching. This reassured me. Later, I
noticed this process running again and decided to look in Resources for more
details. I saw that it had written 750+ GB to my SSD. I thought this might be
the total amount of data over the entire period of operation. I only have one 1
TB SSD connected. Now I turned on the PC, launched the browser, and filled out
a table. About 20-30 minutes had passed since I turned it on, and I noticed the
baloo_file process running again. I launched Resources and looked at how much
it had written to the SSD. Resources said 79 GB, and this value was growing. I
decided to ask DeepSeek again to find out if this was normal. While I was
texting him, the value of data written to the SSD increased to 91 GB. DeepSeek
told me this shouldn't happen and recommended using the balooctl6 disable
command. That's what I did.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Boot system, wait 30 minutes.

OBSERVED RESULT
baloo_file writes ~90GB of data (seen via Resources).

EXPECTED RESULT
Normal write activity (<1GB).
