The color scheme for Kite (Dark) does not provide a Header color set (whereas Breeze Dark does), which causes it to use a fallback from the global color theme. See also https://develop.kde.org/docs/plasma/theme/theme-details/#colors I can reproduce the issue by installing just the Kite plasma scheme and selecting it. If I manually add a Header color set to the style's colors file (I just copied Breeze Dark's), the colors work as expected and the text is in light color.
