            Bug ID: 517212
Summary: Okular 28.08.5 ignores system-wide paper size defaults
(Letter) on non-Plasma (GTK/Linux Mint) systems.
    Classification: Applications
           Product: okular
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: Mint (Ubuntu based)
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: major
          Priority: NOR
         Component: printing
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

Description: As a long-time user of Okular on Linux Mint, I have encountered a
persistent issue where the print dialog defaults to A4 regardless of
system-wide settings, CUPS configuration, or kdeglobals edits.
While Okular is an excellent document viewer, its inability to "see" or
"respect" the host system's default paper size (Letter/US) creates a
significant manual burden for users outside of the full KDE Plasma environment.
Every single print job requires a manual override from A4 to Letter.
Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Use Linux Mint (Cinnamon/MATE) with system locale and paper size set to
US/Letter.
    2. Open any PDF in Okular.
    3. Press Print.
Actual Results: The print dialog defaults to A4.
Expected Results: Okular should provide a configuration toggle to "Always use
System Default Paper Size" or correctly poll the CUPS/System default without
requiring a full KDE environment installation.
Additional Context: This issue has persisted for years. For users who rely on
Okular's superior annotation features but do not wish to install the entire KDE
desktop, this "A4 by default" behavior is a major friction point. Please
consider adding a manual "Default Paper Size" override within Okular's own
settings menu.
