            Bug ID: 517265
Summary: Urgent: LosslessCut crashes on startup on
                    Kubuntu/Ubuntu (Wayland/Electron/KWin interaction)
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: Kubuntu
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: xwayland

  Target Milestone: ---

Dear developers,

This is an urgent issue that should be addressed with high priority.

There is a critical bug on Kubuntu/Ubuntu where the LosslessCut application
crashes before it even manages to open. The app is currently completely
unusable. The source of the problem appears to be the interaction between
Electron, Wayland, and KWin.

When I use the CLI to force X11 instead of the default Wayland session, the
application works perfectly.

More information about the bug can be found here:
https://github.com/mifi/lossless-cut/issues/2614

I sincerely hope that developers won't simply pass the blame from one to
another regarding the root cause – a situation I encounter all too often. It
strongly appears that the actual source of the problem lies within KWin and
Mutter, as both likely share the same problematic code segment.

Generally speaking, my experience with Wayland has not been positive. Many
applications that run flawlessly on X.org are riddled with bugs when running on
Wayland.
