Bug ID: 517377
Summary: Night Light introduces visible grain/noise on pure
black wallpapers (OLED)
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.6.1
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: minor
Priority: NOR
Component: night color
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
Night Light introduces faint grain/noise on pure black anything (OLED).
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Set a pure black (#000000) wallpaper for testing.
Make sure you are in a pitch black room to catch it. (It is very subtle).
Enable Night Light.
OBSERVED RESULT
A very faint grain/noise pattern appears across the black background. The
effect is subtle but reduces the “true black” appearance expected on OLED
displays. Disabling Night Light removes the noise immediately.
EXPECTED RESULT
Pure black backgrounds remain uniform with no visible grain or noise,
especially on OLED panels.
