Bug ID: 517432
Summary: Every time monitors turn off (sleep or even screen off
timeout), KDE makes the wrong display 'Primary'
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First master
Reported In:
Platform: NixOS
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Display Configuration widget and OSD
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
SUMMARY
Since the last update of KDE, the primary display is never remembered. I have
it configured to be the Laptop built-in screen, but no matter how many times i
mark it primary and apply, it only works until the next time the computer
sleeps, or the power save screen turning off, or disconnecting/reconnecting the
external monitor, and it is back to making the external monitor primary.
Please i just want my taskbar to stay over on my laptop screen!
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect external monitor.
2. Set laptop monitor to primary device on Display Configuration widget.
3. Close lid
OBSERVED RESULT
Taskbar is now on external monitor until display configuration is manually
updated again.
EXPECTED RESULT
Taskbar stays where it was set because primary display setting is not switched
unasked.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Qt Version: 6.10.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Key thing is it has been working for a long time. Nothing changed in my laptop
or monitor setup, not even a change of cable. This stopped working after a
software update.
It DOES connect to the external monitor via a USB Anker dock/hub. That part
did not change; it was working before; but might well be relevant.
Thanks! This is surprisingly annoying lol.
