I am slightly unsure of what you mean by "it's giving me all the colors at the
same time", but I assume that what you are expecting is a normal looking HSL
(or similar) color selector and not an unusual teal/green/pink one.

If that is the case, the issue is that you are editing using (and thus
selecting a color with) the XYZ color space.
You can convert the image to a different color space by using the "Convert
Image Color Space" option from the "Image" menu, or select a different color
space when you are creating a new image. The model "RGB/Alpha" will give you
the color space that is the most common one for non-print work.

I think this should resolve your problem, so I'm going to close this report,
but if I am misunderstanding and you still have trouble, please let me know.
