Bug ID: 517557
Summary: Sometimes an application playing audio makes the
plasma volume control/media player widget lock the
volume bar between 10%~ of a change
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.5.5
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Audio Volume widget
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
SUMMARY
Sometimes whenever I'm playing an audio and wanting to change it's volume, I'm
unable to do so because the plasma volume control locks the volume bar between
10% of a change, whenever below or higher. Normally I can change volume per 5%.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch KDE Plasma with pipewire audio server
2. Play an audio for a long period of time
3. Out of a sudden it is impossible to change the audio volume as described
below
OBSERVED RESULT
Once I mute the audio stream using keyboard mute button, sometimes I'm unable
to unmute the stream using the same key and therefore I have to go to the
pavucontrol to unmute it there. Same goes for volume control whenever I'm stuck
between those 10% change through plasma controls. For example when my initial
volume was 59%, I can lower it down at max 49% or when increasing the volume -
at max 69%.
Whenever I stop playing the audio, I can normally control the volume again
through plasma.
EXPECTED RESULT
I can control the volume level while playing an audio using plasma volume
control.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Alpine Linux 3.23
KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.19.0
Qt Version: 6.10.1
Pipewire: 1.4.9
Pipewire-Pulse: 1.4.9
WirePlumber: 0.5.13
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I'm using pipewire audio server and most commonly the issue is happening with
ungoogled chromium. This issue was non-existent in around 6.0.1 - 6.3.2 version
of KDE Plasma.
