SUMMARY
With certain Qt styles, including Fusion, Windows, Plastique, Cleanlooks and
Kvantum (i.e. mostly older, less maintained styles), but not Breeze, Oxygen,
Adwaita or HighContrast, if Compact View (aka. Short View in the context menu)
is used in file dialogs, every single file name has a few letters in it
replaced with an ellipsis, even short file names. In the case of short names,
this makes it hard to guess what the file name actually is. I've only started
seeing this happen in the last few days.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
QT_STYLE_OVERRIDE=fusion kdialog --getopenfilename
OBSERVED RESULT

EXPECTED RESULT
File names not ellipsized, except perhaps if they are very long. (Though even
then, IIRC file dialogs just made that particular column very wide; column
widths aren't fixed in this view mode.)
