            Bug ID: 517993
Summary: libkscreen 6.5.6 regression makes Plasma Mobile crash
                    on startup
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: KScreen
      Version First 6.5.6
       Reported In:
          Platform: postmarketOS
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: crash
          Priority: NOR
         Component: common
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
After upgrading Plasma to 6.5.6, my postmarketOS 25.12 (stable) Plasma Mobile
installation fails to boot into Plasma Mobile with these errors from
plasmashell:
> kscreen.kwayland: Connection to Wayland server timed out.
> RotationUtil: Failed to get kscreen config, attempting again
> not a valid new object id (4278190081), message mode(n)
> kscreen.kwayland: Connection to Wayland server timed out.
> RotationUtil: Failed to get kscreen config, attempting again
> The Wayland connection experienced a fatal error: Invalid argument

Downgrading ONLY libkscreen and libkscreen-lang to 6.5.5 makes the errors go
away and Plasma Mobile work again.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install postmarketOS 25.12 Plasma Mobile.
2. sudo apk -U upgrade
3. Try to log in.

OBSERVED RESULT
After logging in, the screen goes black, and the phone can be used only over
SSH. Downgrading libkscreen "fixes" it.

EXPECTED RESULT
The UI starts up successfully.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: postmarketOS 25.12
KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.19.0
Qt Version: 6.10.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
There were only 2 commits to libkscreen between 6.5.5 and 6.5.6:
*
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/libkscreen/-/commit/4bb33417bd7657ba3f140048a7ab324e6d007dc2
*
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/libkscreen/-/commit/9398f645b57acac22db721c0dc56324975b07334

so it seems likely that one of those two is to blame for the regression.
