Bug ID: 518230
Summary: Disks not auto-mounting or visible in config
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.6.3
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Disks & Devices widget
Assignee: [email protected]

Target Milestone: 1.0
SUMMARY
I have a thumbdrive which usually auto-mounts on boot or insertion.
A few days back I updated to plasma 6.6.3. After a few reboots, I noticed the
drive was not auto-mounted. There was an option to mount it manually in Disks
and Devices widget, and it worked, but auto-mount did not. This persisted until
I powered off (a reboot did not work) and removed the drive, re-inserted it,
and powered on. A few reboots proved it to be working OK at that point, but
later, this recurred.
After this happened a few times, I figured the auto-mounter config was corrupt,
so I removed all of the entries from the Aito-mount KCM. After this, no drives
ever appear there. I thought maybe the config file (kded_device_automounterrc)
was corrupt, so moved it and restarted, and it was never recreated. After that,
even the attached (non-removable) drives don't appear in the list.
There's no errors in the log either when the automounter/kded start, or from
when the disk is inserted. It's basically like it's just not even running the
automounter. It is present and shown as running in the Background Services kcm.
Stopping and starting it didn't help.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Boot
OBSERVED RESULT
Drive isn't mounted
Auto-mount devices list is not updated
EXPECTED RESULT
Drive is mounted
Connected and mountable drives appear in the config
