Update: while there seemingly had been at least some improvements (the copy
pasting seemingly became a bit more consistent), the unintended behaviour still
takes place quite often.

An interesting discovery is that by turning off the Clipboard Manager
completely, the problem has disappeared entirely.

I did some testing, and either increasing or decreasing the number of entries
allowed in the Clipboard Manager did not really seem to impact the unintended
behaviour occurring.
What did work every time, was clearing the Clipboard Manager when the
unintended behaviour occurred, and then copy paste would work as intended for a
few times.

So the most interesting takeaway from all of this remains that completely
turning off the Clipboard Manager, made the unintended behaviour cease
completely.
