Centered Kickoff mockup
I'd like to suggest an option to center the Kickoff launcher pop-up, similar to
the Windows 11 Start menu.
On centered or dock-like panels, the current positioning can feel a bit
awkward, especially on wider displays, because the launcher appears visually
tied to the launcher button or panel rather than the center of the screen.
I know there are alternatives such as Application Dashboard, but that is not
really what I'm looking for. I specifically like Kickoff and would love to keep
using it. What I'm proposing is closer to what the Andromeda launcher already
supports: keeping the same launcher, but allowing its pop-up to appear centered
in a way that works better with centered panel layouts.
I think this would be a useful configurable option rather than a replacement
for the current behavior.
The existing positioning could remain the default, while users who prefer
centered layouts could enable a centered mode.
A feature like this could improve usability, make Kickoff feel more natural on
dock-like panels, and also make Plasma a bit more familiar for people migrating
from Windows 11 (like myself).
I've attached a mockup of what I had in mind.
PS: I was unable to find Kickoff under Plasma components, so hopefully someone
can move this to the right place.
