Bug ID: 518457
Summary: Krita 5.3.0 Won't Open on RHEL 9 / Rocky 9
Classification: Applications
Product: krita
Version First 5.3.0
Reported In:
Platform: RedHat Enterprise Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: General
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
Attempting to launch Krita 5.3.0 from its AppImage on a RHEL 9.7 system does
not seem to be possible.
This is an Enterprise OS that still has active support until 31 May 2027.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download 5.3.0 App Image directly from Krita Page
2. Open AppImage locally
3. Receive Error message
OBSERVED RESULT
"Replacing libstdc++.so.6 with the fallback version: libstdc++.so.6.0.29 ->
libstdc++.so.6.0.32
/tmp/.mount_kritaHhENHh/usr/bin/krita: /lib64/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.35'
not found (required by /tmp/.mount_kritaHhENHh/usr/bin/../lib/libQt5Core.so.5)
/tmp/.mount_kritaHhENHh/usr/bin/krita: /lib64/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.35'
not found (required by /tmp/.mount_kritaHhENHh/usr/bin/../lib/libgsl.so)"
Rocky 9's entire lifetime will be locked to GLIBC 2.34.
Despite the claim from a developer in the forums that our machines are
"ancient", Enterprise Environments have to focus on actively supported OS's
tested for stability rather than updating to the absolute latest. The machines
themselves run Substance Painter, Houdini, Nuke, etc. without issue, so they
will be able to handle Krita.
If there is anything we can do to get Krita 5.3.0 or Krita 6.0.0 working with
Rocky 9, we would love any assistance.
Thank you!
EXPECTED RESULT
Krita opens on machines using GLIBC 2.34
