SUMMARY

About a week ago I saw that my taskbar was completely frozen, while all my
applications and everything else was fine. I looked at the system monitor and
saw that the process called "plasmashell" was taking about 10 to 12% CPU power
and about 1.2GB of RAM. The issue persisted after trying to restart my PC.
After looking into the issue I found a cache file for plasmashell under
~/.cache, and tried deleting it's contents, which resulted in the issue being
resolved after a restart.

A couple of days ago I booted up my PC and the same problem was present. This
time also deleting files through dolphin took a lot of time (about a minute
between pressing delete and the files being deleted, and the file manager is
frozen for that time). I deleted the cache and the issue was gone once again.
There were no new folders added to the cache between how they regenerated after
deleting them the first time, and how they were when the issue came back.

Then, yesterday I got the problem again, and this time deleting the cache did
not help. My taskbar is still frozen and plasmashell is still taking the same
absurdly high amount of system resources. I am assuming it is still somehow
related to the cache, the only thing I could think of that changed between this
time and the last was that I ran pacman -yuu, so maybe a newer version of
something caused this to be worse. Today I was on my PC with this issue for a
long time, and as of writing this right now, plasmashell got to a high of 9.5GB
memory usage.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
I don't have specific steps, as it is not clear to me what exactly is causing
this issue and what one would need to get it too.

OBSERVED RESULT
Frozen taskbar and desktop, and increasingly high memory usage, going up to
9.5GB with 10-12% CPU usage. Everything else unrelated to plasmashell functions
fine.

EXPECTED RESULT
