regarding Microsoft Edge. Edge is based on Chromium, so the issue here is
likely related to the Chromium engine. The Alkimia installation included in the
snap package was apparently built using QWebEngine, which uses the Chromium
engine. 
QWebEngine is used in Alkimia to retrieve online quotes from websites that
require JavaScript.  However, there is also the option to use QWebKit, provided
it is available for the relevant compiler.
