I've now installed Kid3 from my distro's default package manager (which is
really a pacman wrapper) and it works perfectly. Who knows why i didn't to this
to start
This flatpak troubleshooting will definitely be good to know in the future
though!

There are many more folders where users are likely to put .mp3 files that they
want to tag. For one thing, what if they're not music but audio recordings of
meetings to be stored in Documents? What if they're making a podcast? What if,
like me, they store it in external media?
This seems like it would be a common issue for flatpak users. It's up to you to
weigh their complaints against the security benefits
