DESCRIPTION
The external monitor flickers (repeatedly turns off and on) whenever an
application enters fullscreen mode under Wayland. It happens with Spectacle
when taking screenshots (which briefly darkens the screen) and also with video
players in fullscreen. The flickering coincides with mouse movement.
The issue only occurs when the Intel GPU is disabled in the BIOS and the system
runs exclusively on the NVIDIA RTX 2060. With switchable graphics (Intel +
NVIDIA) the issue does not reproduce.
The monitor is connected via USB-C to an MSI GS75 laptop, using NVIDIA driver
595.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Disable the Intel GPU in the BIOS (PEG mode / discrete NVIDIA only)
Connect an external ultrawide monitor (3440×1440 @ 144Hz) via USB-C
Open any application in fullscreen (e.g. a video in VLC/Firefox, or launch
Spectacle to take a screenshot)
OBSERVED RESULT
The monitor repeatedly turns off and on while the application is in fullscreen.
The flickering is continuous and coincides with mouse movement.
EXPECTED RESULT
The monitor should remain stable when entering fullscreen mode.

Intel GPU is disabled in BIOS; with Switch Graphics enabled the bug does not
reproduce.
The issue is suspected to be related to KWin's direct scanout optimization
applied to fullscreen windows.
