            Bug ID: 519971
Summary: UI option to configure language word boundaries for
                    e.g. double click select action
    Classification: Applications
           Product: kate
      Version First 26.04.1
       Reported In:
          Platform: Arch Linux
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: part
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION
Currently there appears to be no user-visible way to configure language word
boundaries. Additionally, other editors generally allow expanding the word
boundary list by holding a modifier key, and Kate seems to be missing this.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Change language to e.g. Lua
2. Write text such as "hello.world"
3. Double-click any part of the text

OBSERVED RESULT
All words including separating punctuation is selected, with no option to
change this functionality

EXPECTED RESULT
- Expose language word boundaries (and possibly other things?) in Settings
- Offer multiple levels of boundaries, such that holding a modifier key will
activate this new level when performing actions such as double-clicking

This would resolve, as mentioned and used as example, double-clicking lines
with punctuation, and the punctuation is selected when the user doesn't want
it—either the word boundary list can be modified to suit, or a modifier can be
used.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.25.0
Qt Version: 6.11.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Attempted a cursory search for this but I don't think it exists. If it does,
please let me know.

Maybe related to #34572, #272421
