Not sure if this is really a new issue. There are already plenty of
clipboard-related issues where “timeout reading from pipe” appears in the
journal:
- Bug 517450
- Bug 519485
- Bug 518205
- Bug 517927
- Bug 516315
- Bug 515305
However, these bugs all talk about copying while in my case nothing is copied.
In my case, the clipboard is empty.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Freshly login to a Plasma session such that the clipboard is empty. (You
might have to disable saving clipboard contents across desktop sessions.)
2. Start Evolution and maybe some other applications.
3. Minimize all windows one by one. After minimizing the last window, Plasma
freezes for ≈1s.
4. The effect can be repeated when restoring and minimizing again.
After a freeze, the following appears in the journal:

When trying several times, it looks like this, where the first four line appear
only once at the beginning:
