            Bug ID: 520021
Summary: New install of DigiKam, error message about ExifTool
missing, but it is installed and works from the
                    terminal.
    Classification: Applications
           Product: digikam
      Version First 9.0.0
       Reported In:
          Platform: MacPorts
                OS: macOS
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Metadata-ExifTool
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION

New install of DigiKam on macOS, error message about ExifTool missing, but it
is installed and works from the terminal.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have ExifTool installed from exiftool.org (I have version 13.58, which is
the current version).
2. Download digiKam-9.0.0-Qt6-MacOS-arm64.pkg (I have an Apple Silicon Mac),
and run the installer.
3. Do the initial setup.
4. Download the large model files, and restart DigiKam as instructed.

OBSERVED RESULT

At this point I got an error about exiftool missing or wrong in some way. But
exiftool is installed in /usr/local/bin, and works from the terminal. And, the
DigiKam Preferences > Metadata > ExifTool has a tick for exiftool and can see
exiftool in /usr/local/bin.

EXPECTED RESULT

No error message.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

macOS Tahoe 26.4.1 (25E253)

Qt Version: (supplied with DigiKam)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I didn't know what to put in the "Platform" entry. I am using a Mac and have
not had reason to download a DMG version of macOS.

I didn't enable using ExifTool in the Behavior section of the Metadata
preferences.

I am new to DigiKam (and to kde.org). I searched for this bug here (using
"exiftool digikam") and didn't find it. The "possible duplicates" shows a
problem for Windows with older versions of DigiKam.
