            Bug ID: 520382
Summary: Feature Request: Please add a setting in which user
can change the temporary directory being used
    Classification: Applications
           Product: ark
      Version First 26.04.1
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

This is not a bug. It is a new feature request.

DESCRIPTION
The temporary directory that Ark uses is not configurable. It is not clear
whether ark uses the /tmp directory or the /run/user directory or the
$HOME/.cache directory or some other directory for temporary or cache files.
Also this setting is not configurable nor can be modified by the user. It would
be good to have a configuration item in General or Extraction which points to
this directory and allows the user to select a different directory.
Many other archive tools have this functionality, like for example 7zip.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch Ark
2. Go to Settings > General or Settings > Extraction
3. Try to locate the settings for temporary directory to be used

OBSERVED RESULT
There is no setting for temporary directory anywhere.

EXPECTED RESULT
There ought to be a setting where the user can specify which temporary
directory to be used. Either the /tmp directory or /run/user directory or
$HOME/.cache or some other directory as per the user requirement.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

terminal window): linux
