Bug ID: 520427
Summary: VMWare Focus Leak
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.6.3
Reported In:
Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: major
Priority: NOR
Component: generic-performance
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
DESCRIPTION:
When using VMWare Workstation in Plasma 6.6.3; it is noticed that input is
being received by windows that are not in focus, specifically VMWare. VMWare
should lose focus the second the mouse is outside the window and it should
immdateiyl stop taking input, but it doesn't; you can focus another app and
VMWare is still taking input despite another application being in focus and
also taking input.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a VMWare Workstation VM.
2. Do anything inside the VMWare VM where you can see the input cursor.
3. Take your focus outside of VMware to any other app and notice that VMware
still takes your input.
OBSERVED RESULT
Window not in focus is taking input simultaneously as the focus window; so two
different applications are taking the same keystrokes.
EXPECTED RESULT
Only the application in focus should be taking the input.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a
terminal window):
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.23.0
Qt Version: 6.10.0
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is being reported across several locations trying to target the bug, but
the common problem seems to be Plasma and/or Wayland but the VMWare Developers
think it's Plasma, here are some links to other people reporting the problem:

https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/463952
There are more, this was just to demonstrate that more than one person is
having this issue.
