Bug ID: 520430
Summary: Please provide an option to compress the backup tar
and not individual files
Classification: Applications
Product: kbackup
Version First 26.04.1

This is not a bug, it is a feature request
DESCRIPTION
In KBackup currently there is option to compress individual files and not the
whole backup tar. This creates a problem. When the option, "Compress Files" is
enabled KBackup compresses the individual file and not the whole tar backup. So
when the backup is uncompressed all the individual extracted files are in the
compressed format. This leads to a hell of an effort to uncompress them,
especially if there are multiple directories and multiple files.
There should be option to enable compression of the whole tar also.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch KBackup
2. Create a new Backup Profile.
3. Go to File > Profile Settings
4. Look for an option to compress the tar and not individual files that make
up the tar.
OBSERVED RESULT
There is no option near to "Compress Files" saying "Compress backup as a whole"
or "Compress tar"
EXPECTED RESULT
There should be an option near to "Compress Files" saying "Compress backup as a
whole" or "Compress tar"
